Completely refined sugar free, using only a few simple ingredients, this homemade cranberry sauce with orange zest is the perfect healthy addition to any thanksgiving meal!
12 oz fresh cranberries
½ cup water
½ cup fresh orange juice
½ cup coconut sugar (plus more if you like it sweeter)
2 tsp fresh orange zest
Serving Suggestion:
Serve chilled topped with extra orange zest!
How To:
Start by placing your fresh cranberries in a medium sized pot with your water and fresh orange juice. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring often.
Once bubbling, reduce heat to low and let simmer.
When the cranberries have started to soften, add your coconut sugar and orange zest.
Stir to combine and continue to let cook until you reach desired texture. I like my cranberry sauce soft but still having some cranberries in tact.
Taste and adjust sugar as needed. This recipe produces a tangier cranberry sauce so you can add more coconut sugar if needed.
Once the cranberries have cooked down, remove from heat and let cool.
Chill the cranberry sauce in the fridge for at least 1-2 hours before serving.
