Vegan, gluten and refined sugar free, these chocolatey brownie inspired breakfast waffles are the perfect brunch, or dessert to kick off your Valentines Day!

  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup cacao powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 cup coconut milk (or sub oat milk)
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp creamy nut butter

Serving Suggestion:

Serve topped with extra chocolate, mixed berries and maple syrup!

How To:

  1. Start by preheating your waffle iron, I use a Belgian waffle iron and I always put the setting on 2.
  2. While your iron is preheating, add your dry ingredients and medium sized mixing bowl, oat flour, cacao powder, cornstarch, baking powder and sea salt. Whisk until fully combined.
  3. Then, to a separate mixing bowl add your wet ingredients, coconut milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract and nut butter. Stir until fully combined.
  4. Add your wet ingredients to your dry ingredients and stir until combined.
  5. Once your waffle iron is preheated, scoop your batter onto the iron, close the lid and let cook until light and fluffy.
  6. Remove from the iron and repeat until batter is used.
  7. While your waffles are cooking, slice strawberries, cherries or raspberries to top.
  8. When waffles are done cooking, divide evenly among your plates, top with berries, maple syrup and a chopped up chocolate bar, like Hu Kitchen chocolate!
